Literature Classics

Wow!!! I saw the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice on Saturday! It was spectacular. Jane Austen is an amazing author and the screen version her novel is a must see. Kiera Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen are wonderful.
However, the English ending (released to most of the world including S. Africa) is different to the American ending, I was confused about this but found the answer on the Jane Austen Society of North Ameirca :

“They changed the film for America, because they decided that America needed a sweeter film. . . . The ending that is released world-wide has Mr. Bennet saying, ‘If any young men come for Mary or Kitty, send them in, for I am quite at leisure.’ Joe [Wright] prefers the English version, but the tests in the United States said that the audiences preferred the version with Darcy and Lizzy together.”
